The Full Story
Pioneer stands out as the sole company in Australia that employs natural refrigerants in air conditioning products, positioning itself as a leader in the industry. Our commitment to utilising three natural refrigerants—M50, M60, and R290— emphasises our dedication to environmental sustainability.
These natural refrigerants boast significantly lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) values:
M50: GWP = 3
M60: GWP=3
R290: GWP = 3
This stands in stark contrast to competitors who rely on synthetic refrigerants (HFCs, HCFCs, CFCs, HFOs) such as:
R22: GWP = 1810
R410a: GWP = 2088
R32: GWP = 675
many of which are being phased out due to their environmental impact.
One of the key advantages of Pioneer's use of natural refrigerants lies in their capacity to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Notably, our air conditioning units require substantially less refrigerant compared to those using synthetic alternatives.
For every unit utilizing 1kg of synthetic refrigerant, Pioneer units employing natural refrigerants only require 500g-600g, equating to a remarkable 40-50% reduction in refrigerant usage for equivalent cooling/heating capacity.
The benefits extend beyond environmental considerations. The reduced refrigerant quantity
translates to less strain on the compressor in Pioneer units. This diminished workload results in energy savings, as the compressor operates with less intensity while still effectively fulfilling its cooling/heating functions.
This distinctive feature sets Pioneer units apart – not only are they environmentally friendly with minimally harmful refrigerants, but they also achieve superior efficiency with reduced energy consumption.
Furthermore, the decreased strain on the compressor has a positive impact on the lifespan of
Pioneer units. Our research indicates that the reduction in consumption contributes to an extended compressor lifespan, showcasing the durability and longevity of our products.
Overall, Pioneer's natural refrigerant-based units epitomize an environmentally conscious and energy-efficient solution, offering a balance between performance, sustainability, and durability.
To add further, evolving legislation is making it extremely difficult for companies in Australia and internationally to use synthetic refrigerants with high GWPs. Local Governments including Parramatta, North Sydney and Sydney City council have introduced building requirements ensuring refrigerants used in air conditioning systems have a GWP of 10 or less. Pioneer's cutting-edge technology not only meets but surpasses these requirements, positioning the company as a trusted partner in environmental sustainability and regulatory compliance.
